(last revised: 7th April, 2006)
I am a full-time PhD student, studying in the School of Geography, Planning and Architecture, at the University of Queensland. I began at mid-year in 2003 and plan to finish by March, 2007. My supervisor is Dr John Macarthur and my associate supervisor is Dr Antony Moulis. My PhD concerns change and landscape architecture.
Talking about your PhD, I
have discovered, is a very difficult thing. I had thought that it was just lazy
doctoral students being pretentious, not wanting to have to explain in to people
who they had deemed would not understand it. Now I realise oit is a kind of
horror. It's the Sublime. It's being on a life-boat of one word in a sea of
80,000.
I welcome any correspondance
with authors whose work intersects my own, particularly if they can direct my
to their own writing or that of others, that I can refer to and use to refine
my topic. I am trying now to concentrate on discussion of specific projects,
before finally returning to my literature review.
Overview
(NEW)
The following are various presentations I have given that discuss my PhD interest
in change more informally, but are nonetheless useful to understanding the argument:
Proposals
The following are the documents describing my doctorate, formally, as it has
progressed, roughly chronologically:

Essays
The following essays I have published, mostly refereed, that attempted to scope
out the theoretical base of what I am talking about, and link it to the PRACTICES
of gardening. These were mostly scoping pieces, to be true:

in Progress (NEW)
Slowly but surely, i am accelerating toward finishing by the end of the year.
The following are project descriptions of a couple of the projects I will be
looking at. These are in a first draft format, in various states of disrepair..
Other Writings
The idea of change in relation to landscape architecture is one that has interested
me for while, for example:
I am going to put stuff up here without thinking about quality, as I think it is important to have ones ideas "ot there". ANy writers or thinkers out there whose work intersects with mine, please email me.
